The Power of Pomegranate
Share
The spiritual and political successor to the Islamic Prophet Muhammad, Imam Ali al-Ridha (A.S.) said, “Pomegranate is a fruit of paradise. There is one seed from Paradise in every pomegranate growing on the earth.” I think he was absolutely correct because only something from paradise can have such amazing benefits for your body internally and externally. Pomegranates, with its thick reddish skin, may be hard to eat and messy, but they are nutrient dense and rejuvenating for your skin.
Benefits of Pomegranate for Skin
Pomegranates are rich in vitamins B, C, E, and K. Vitamin B Complex increases hydration in dry or sensitive skin giving it a healthy glow. Antioxidant (helps stop or prevents cell damage) vitamin C helps fight free radicals, which are responsible for wrinkles and sagging, and helps collagen (responsible for skin strength and elasticity) production. Vitamin C also aids in smoothing, firming skin and fading brown spots. Antioxidant vitamin E helps skin retain its natural moisturizers to keep your skin from looking rough, dry and reduces the appearance of scars. It offers UV sun protection and fights free radicals. Vitamin K helps lighten dark under-eye circles, bruises and helps with wrinkle reduction.
Pomegranates are mineral-rich, too. They contain calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, sodium, and zinc. Calcium helps prevent fragile, thin skin. Magnesium helps retain moisture in skin and prevents acceleration of skin aging. When potassium and sodium pair, they help regulate water in your body’s cells, which prevents dry skin and other skin conditions. Zinc helps tame oil production in acne sufferers.
Pomegranate seed oil contains punicic acid, palmitic acid, stearic acid, oleic acid, and linoleic acid. These are natural fatty acids that help your skin produce a natural oil barrier to keep your skin hydrated, plumper, and younger looking.
Pomegranate seed oil is beneficial for anyone with:1
- Dry skin
- Skin conditions (eczema and psoriasis)
- Mature and aging skin
- Sunburned skin
Refined skin starts with a great foundation. There are many options for anti-aging lotions, creams and serums. Many include harmful ingredients. Natural pomegranate seed oil is an excellent option for its associated skin benefits. Why settle for anything less than the best?
