5 Teas For Healthy Looking Skin
Share
I enjoy a hot cup of tea. Wrapping my hands around the warmth of the teacup is comforting. I’m also comforted knowing that tea works wonders for healthy looking skin.
I’m always looking to naturally improve my skin health. One place to start is on the inside. External applications of skincare products enhance your outer glow.
It may sound trite and clichéd, but what’s going on inside your body manifests on the outside. This eventually affects your skin health. It plays a role in whether you’re visited by outbreaks, rashes, dryness, pallor and more.
A good skincare routine is the foundation of skin health. It includes, but it’s not limited to, eating a diet consisting of whole foods. Whole foods are minimally processed or refined and devoid of additives or artificial substances.
A good skincare routine also includes consuming skin-supporting beverages. Enter my favorite hot drink of choice, tea. Below are five teas that’ll give your skin a healthy glow.
Rooibos tea– contains zinc, minerals, vitamins C and D, high levels of flavonoids, alpha hydroxy acid (AHA), which alleviates skin conditions, and antioxidants, which fight free radicals that cause premature skin aging.
Sorrel tea– made from the hibiscus flower, it prevents free radical damage that causes premature skin aging due to the phenolic acid, protocatechuic acid (PCA).
Green tea– contains antioxidant polyphenol, EGCG, which has anti-cancer mechanisms that inhibit cancer cell growth. It’s also anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiviral, protects from sun damage, and prevents premature skin aging.
Pomegranate tea– is mineral rich and antioxidant rich, which fights free radicals that cause premature skin aging. It contains vitamins B, C, E, and K. Vitamin B complex increases hydration in dry or sensitive skin giving a healthy glow.
Chamomile tea– is antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, and antiseptic. It calms skin irritations, moisturizes skin, and aids in healing wounds.
The next time you reach for a warm drink, reach for one of the above teas to support your skin health.
